Deep Dark Fantasy

Let’s do it, let’s delve into my deepest darkest fantasies. This post is strictly NSFW, now that the weak of the heart have left let’s delve into it. I find myself at work, even though my job is comfortable I do lose my train of thought – then there she is, sitting near me just typing away with her elegant fingers. That’s when the fantasy starts, I can’t help but imagine myself finally building my chicken coop – she reminds me of the carpenter in Stardew Valley, what did you think I was about to say?.

Stardew Valley – is it nostalgia or is this genuinely an exciting game worth your time? It’s honestly a bit of both. The game is excellent for what it is; it’s an indie game that gives you precisely what your perverted mind needs, an escape into a fantasy where you are running a farm. It’s a smooth blend of RPG and Farming Simulation; those damn slick 8-bit graphics will entertain you, a constant loop of improving your estate, equipment, and exploration will keep you entertained. Give you that sweet, sweet dopamine hit that you have been craving all those long hours at work. I know what you are thinking, this is just a revamped version of Harvest Moon and whats wrong with that? Harvest Moon makers were wrong to upgrade the graphics and add so much to the story; it was perfect the way it was. You genuinely get the sense of accomplishment from progressing in the game – the cool thing is that this lifestyle is achievable, a young man/woman who throws away the shackles of the 9-5 to get in touch with a more straightforward way of living.

There is irony in me posting this on a online blog from my iMac and preaching to you about the awesomeness that is living a simple life farming. Upgrade that pickaxe and do some mining, while being attacked by some slimy alien fiends, you will have fun I guarantee it. Do some fishing, sell the fish and get yourself a chicken coop, live the dream, indulge your fantasy!

I recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley is a modernization of the genre with a more relatable story – you are an office stiff and decide to live a different life. As I type this on my iMac having played the game on an Alienware laptop the irony is not lost on me, but the game is excellent, and one day my fantasy might become a reality.
